Please tell me about your current role at HDE.
I make proposals and sell our products to domestic customers as a member of HDE One Direct Sales New Marketing Team. I visit customers based on leads received mainly from the Marketing and Inside Sales Team. I inform customers about HDE One, listen to their issues, give product demos, gather requirements and pitch them new HDE One subscription agreement.
Subscription model service like HDE One is becoming widespread. Services like this is packaged simply and end users are often forced to determine the detailed difference of services based only on the information available on websites and brochures
Because of this, the Direct Sales Team communicates with customers and make proposals to them as an important first step to introduce the systemized SaaS solution and encourage its long-term use.
As a member of HDE, what is the most exciting part of your current position?
I think that there are primarily two attractive points.
The first point is that I am able to propose the current leading solution, HDE One to the direct sales customers. I listen to the opinions of our customers who want to boldly take on the challenge of the newest measures to improve their work environments, e.g; innovate new work style that is a hot topic in Japan nowadays. I feel that the ability to directly propose and sell HDE One is rewarding since I am apart of selling the generation’s most advanced technology to our clients.
The second point is its work environment.I am very grateful for our company’s consideration for having a good work environment. I am able to work from anywhere at all, as long as I have my company laptop. This enables the employees to make effective use of short idle time while outside the office and the time between sales pitches. As a result, we can respond more quickly to customer requests and this leads to building trust with our clients. This is particularly an appealing point for sales reps who are always seeking speed and efficiency.
What kind of culture does HDE have?
I feel that there is a culture of freedom and mutual trust that penetrates from the top management to all employees. This sort of culture makes it possible to develop an environment where employees do not fear failure and are willing to take on new challenges.
However, this doesn’t mean that you can do anything. The organization has an order, and within the scope of that order, we are given responsibilities and freedom. Due to this structure, employees can allocate the majority of their work time to thinking about the essentials for carrying out their work.
Please tell me about your dreams, ambitions or hope for the future at HDE or in life.
In terms of dreams, ambitions and hope for the next five years, I would like to be a presence that can make my local area, Aichi prefecture, a vibrant tech market!
Tokyo is truly amazing since everyone is always paying attention to the latest information. Tokyo is indeed the place where outside (overseas) information is first received. I feel that the people of my hometown and other regions of the country have a fundamentally different mindset compared to the people in Tokyo.
When asked about technology, depending on our perspective, it can seem like a dream. I think there are some aspects of technology that can’t be trusted and that are difficult to approach. But at the same time, some truly great technology and sources of innovation for the world are appearing, so I believe that more people can become involved in technology depending on how it is conveyed.
What type of people would you want to work with?
Without turning away from the harsh reality and looking directly at the issue, ultimately, the answer is to work with those who can work everyday with the conviction to “win” and have the “I can do this” mindset.
I don’t mean to say that I only want to work with people who are always forward looking and positive thinking, but with people who have the confidence and conviction that they can solve problems even when faced with adversity.
Positive thinking sometimes makes people believe that they can overcome problems with robust spiritualism. Such mindset does not allow them to come up with concrete and logical solutions since they cannot face their issues headon. Most likely there will be a big difference in the quality of the result between those who conquer with spiritualism versus coming up with concrete solutions.
I think that it is an important point in both work and in personal life.
The time spent with people who have such a mindset and the time spent in discussion with such people can be very constructive and meaningful.
What does "Liberation of Technology" mean to you?
For me, “Liberation of Technology” means, “offering more choices to the world”.
When innovative technologies appear in the world, I think there are many who may think that such technologies cannot be trusted or they are hard to approach. Recently, there may even be people who believe that the pace and possibilities of innovation have made them inaccessible. However, if technology can be relied upon to make the world a better place, it is worth adopting as a choice for the future.
It is for those types of people and organizations that I myself and my colleagues at HDE experience the new technologies firsthand, so that the truly valuable ones can be adopted as the public’s everyday choice of technology’. I believe that thinking and acting like this is what “liberation of technology” means to me.
Finally, I selected the word “choice” because people are the ones who ultimately decide what’s best.But I think that it’s a waste to make decisions without incorporating the wonderful choice of technology into one of their options.
